Holistic Pregnancy, Birthing & Mother Craft Classes
The classes consist of 6 sessions, with each covering different topics, and are designed to encourage hands-on practice to better prepare families for a newborn baby.
All classes run for 1-3 hours, with some being individual sessions and other in a small group of up to 5 couples. Each session you will receive a free gift bag full of information and other handy items.
Tea/Coffee and biscuits are provided for group classes.
You may choose to attend one or all sessions - there is a 10% discount if you book all 6 sessions.
Session 1: Antenatal Class

During this session, we will discuss diet, exercise, blood tests, ultrasounds, vaccinations, pap-smears and anything else that you might be concerned about during pregnancy.
Session 2: Baby Feeding Class
Class Type: Individual
Duration: Approx 1 hour

This is a hands-on practice session.
During this session, we will discuss any previous breastfeeding/bottle feeding history, as well as what method of feeding you wish to do - whether that is breastfeeding or bottle feeding.
If you wish to breastfeed we will look at different positions you can feed in, correct attachment, feeding cues and much more.
If you are wishing to bottle feed we shall look at making up bottles, amounts, and also sterilising.
Session 3: Preparing For Your Baby Class

During this session we shall look at and discuss optimal foetal positioning, preparing a child for a new baby (if applicable), babies and pets, what to bring to the hospital for you and your baby, car seats/capsules, and how to set up a cot/cradle/bassinet.
Session 4: Birthing Class

Duration: Approx 3 hours

During this session we shall look at and discuss the signs of labour, when to call the hospital, stages of labour, pain relief (Both natural and medicated), normal and instrumental births, post dates including natural methods of induction as well as medical, delayed cord clamping, and birth plans.
This session is a lot of fun with hands-on activities.
Session 5: Mother Craft / Parenting Class

Duration: Approx 3 hours

During this session, we shall discuss what happens immediately after the birth of your baby - feeding, skin to skin, weighting, vaccinations and also what happens if the baby goes to the special care nursery.
Furthermore, we shall do some hands-on activities with discussion regarding changing nappies (disposable, cloth and modern cloth nappies), swaddling styles, settling techniques, bathing, reflux and colic, and also what that little green health book is all about.

Session 6: Post Birth Class
Class Type: Group
Duration: Approx 2 hours
Cost: $160.00
This class is designed as a chance for group members to catch up with their new little one on land side. The session will involve debriefing about how you felt during and after the birth of your little one, plus discussion on the benefits of tummy time, activities to do with your new baby and baby massage.
